2023 BMW M4 CSL
If you recently took delivery of your M4 but were thinking to yourself, “Man, this car sure could use 40 more horsepower and 240 fewer pounds”, has BMW got the car for you! Munich's performance tuners have found power by increasing boost (to 30.5 psi!!!) and adding a forged crankshaft with tuning.
Weight loss is achieved by using carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP)…and there’s a lot of it. The whole console is carbon, as are most of the standard CSL front seats, which do without heating, cooling, lumbar, power and even the ability to adjust the backrest. Furthermore, headrests are removable for the driver’s helmets, which when not in use rest perfectly in the area where the backseat was removed. 191 miles per hour and a 7:20 Nürburgring lap time (BMW’s fastest) finish the statistics, and a $140,895 fee is the cost of admission. Act now, they are only building 1,000.
2023 BMW M3 Edition 50 Jahre
To go along with the CSL, BMW’s M division will celebrate 50 years with a limited run of 500 M3 painted in classic M colors. Based on the Competition xDrive models, the cars will be available in E30 Cinnabar Red, E36 Techno Violet, E46 Interlagos Blue, E92 Fire Orange III, and F80 Limerock Gray. Pricing will start from $96,695.
2023 BMW 3-Series
The 3-Series is getting a facelift. BMW’s bread and butter sedan will get crisper lines on the exterior and a bigger, curved screen inside. Engines will stay the same, but a few new colors are to be made available: Skyscraper and Brooklyn Grays.
2023 Land Rover Defender 130
Don’t act like you didn’t see this coming! Building on the success of the existing two- and four-door Defenders, Land Rover is going to give it a go with three rows starting for the 2023 model year. We have nothing at this point but the teaser photo above, which appears to have the same footprint as the 110, with a near 200” overall length.
2023 Toyota Sienna 25th Anniversary Edition
Almost everyone you meet has a story involving a Sienna. Since 1998, over 2.2 million have been built and countless people have been transported in one. To commemorate the occasion of 25 years, Toyota is releasing a special edition based on the XSE with floor mats and badging to mark the milestone. They plan to build 2525 units.
2023 Toyota 4Runner 40th Anniversary Edition
In addition to the Sienna’s 25th, the 4Runner is also celebrating a big birthday…40! To observe four decades of ruggedness, Toyota will build 4,040 SR5-based 4Runner with wicked cool retro badging, TRD Pro grille, and bronze TRD wheels. Inside, special bronze accents distinguish this from regular 4Runners.
2023 Toyota Tundra SX
After a year on the market with its new 3rd generation Tundra, Toyota is adding an SX trim package. On any other Toyota, this would be called the Nightshade and includes dark trim elements throughout the exterior to give it a meaner look. It is expected to be available on most trims and pricing is TBD.
In Other News…
The Mercedes-Benz 300SLR Uhlenhaut coupe (above) hammered at a private auction in the secret halls of Mercedes-Benz HQ in early May for a new record price. The lucky winner triumphed with an eye-watering $143m bid. As one of only two produced, the car is beyond replaceable. Interestingly enough, the other car not only exists but was also in the same collection and prominently featured in their museum. The auction was held by RM Sotheby’s.
The 2023 Audi RS5 will offer a $16,100 Competition Package. While engine power output remains the same at 444 horsepower, added chassis adjustments, slicker tires, and a tuned exhaust system should make this a slightly quicker Coupe or Sportback, and further intensify the fight with rival BMW’s M3 Competition.
The Nightshade trim of the Camry will get 19” bronze wheels, and blackened head- and taillights for the 2023 model year. Also new is the Reservoir Blue paint, pictured above and available on all trims.
The 2023 Tacoma, likely on its way home from third in the current generation, will get an SX blackout package like the Tundra, as well as a chrome package for the SR5 model. We appreciate Toyota’s commitment to letting the customer choose!
2023 Tahoes and Suburbans will offer Super Cruise for the first time. Buyers of Premier and High Country trimmed units will be able to spec the completely hands-free driving assistance package. Here’s to hoping microchip supplies are getting better!
